Verity Tuck and Mike Fraser, co-founders of Goldee, faced a common yet overwhelming challenge: managing the relentless influx of family-related communications. From school newsletters and sports schedules to WhatsApp groups and birthday party invitations, they were inundated with myriad notifications and tasks. Despite the advanced technology available for workplace productivity, they realised that no similar solutions existed for the complexities of family life. Understanding that the mental load and invisible burden of household management often disproportionately fall on women—who are responsible for 75% of this mental load, including tasks like planning, scheduling, and managing family logistics—they set out to address this gap. Driven by their firsthand experience and a commitment to integrating AI with the latest research on mental load, Verity and Mike created Goldee, the first app of its kind in Australia, to streamline family management and ease the administrative burdens that parents face daily.

Verity Tuck - Co-Founder of Goldee

Verity Tuck, a pioneering entrepreneur, co-founded Goldee following her successful venture with LVLY, a same-day flower and gift delivery service that was sold for $35 million in April 2022. Initially turning to angel investing, Verity was reinvigorated by the start-up world and shifted her focus to Goldee, motivated by her own challenges with family communication. Recognising a gap in technology solutions for managing family life, Verity dedicated herself to developing Goldee to address the mental load and administrative burdens parents face daily. She leverages her entrepreneurial experience, curiosity about AI, and commitment to incorporating the latest research on mental load to drive Goldee’s mission.

Mike Fraser is a dynamic entrepreneur and co-founder of Goldee. As a creative and design partner at Shadowboxer, he applies his extensive expertise in technology and design to drive innovation. At Shadowboxer, Mike develops cutting-edge solutions and collaborates with start-ups to bring their visions to life. His work with Verity Tuck—his spouse—reflects his commitment to advancing technology that addresses real-world needs. Professor Leah Ruppanner - Research Consultant

Professor Leah Ruppanner is a leading international expert on the mental load and is the nations’ top Gender Scholar (2022 and 2023) and Sociologist (2023). She is the founding Director of the Future of Work Lab and Gender Equity Initiative and received $1.2 million ARC funding for a project on the mental load. Her book,  Drained offers a new way to understand the mental load and is forthcoming in 2025. Her work has been featured talking about the mental load in prominent publications such as: BBC, World Economic Forum, The Project, Ladies We Need to Talk. Her research is regularly featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Guardian, Vogue and other international publications. Leah has delivered talks on the mental load to major international companies Asia Development Bank, ANZSOG, Accenture, Australia Super and ATEM.
